GST Rates on Online Gaming in India

Any type of game that can be accessible over the Internet or a computer network is considered online gaming. The majority of the time, it refers to video games played over the Internet with people from all over the world. An online game is one that is accessed over a computer network.
The Internet or analogous technologies are almost usually mentioned, but games have always used whatever technology was available at the time: modems before the Internet, and hard-connected terminals before modems.
The rise of online gaming has paralleled the larger growth of computer networks, from small local networks to the Internet, as well as the expansion of Internet access itself. Online games may range from simple text-based games to complex graphics and virtual worlds filled by several players at the same time.
Many online games have brought together online communities, changing them into a type of social interaction that extends beyond single-player games. The government has now agreed to levy GST on online gaming in India.
According to our Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, the GST on online gaming would be decided during the 48th GST Council Meeting in Madurai in the first week of August. Sitharaman was speaking at a press conference on the GST Council's 47th meeting, and the GST rates on online gaming might be hiked to 28 percent.
